The Online World

by Odd de Presno.

The Online World resources handbook book deals with the practical sides of using the GLOBAL online information resource as seen from an international perspective.

It explores selected applications across network and service boundaries showing how such needs can be met. Browse the book's contents to learn more about it's focus.

Updated: I invite you to surf the net using the hypertext version as your independent "Web browser bookmark companion." If your link to Norway is slow, try to get it from our mirror sites in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, or the United States.

Registered readers can sign up to have both an ascii and the hypertext version sent them regularly on diskette.

You can retrieve the ascii version by modem in various ways:

  • Click here for a 424 KB zipped copy of version 3.4
  • The 943 KB online.txt is the uncompressed ASCII file (version 3.4).
  • It is also available from a number of networks and online services around the world.

  • If you are new to retrieval of files over the networks, or have problems, consult one of the following help texts: General help, and help for Macintosh users.

The Online World resources handbook is being distributed as shareware. If you register your copy, we will reward you with one or more free copies of The Online World Monitor newsletter, a companion product.

Your registration will support regular updates. A new version of the ascii version is being published every second month, while the hypertext version is updated more frequently. Click here for a list of important changes by version number.

The handbook is part of a larger project working to publish local print versions in countries around the world. If you are a writer living in a country not listed, why not consider becoming a partner? If you are a publisher, note that some partners are still looking for a publisher.

Finally, the handbook's mailing list is the first place where news about new versions are being published. Also, you may want to check out a recent press release, and read what readers say about the book.

I hope that you will enjoy reading it!
