Tuition and Fees

Pre-term Intensive Portuguese Course

Administrative cost - Regular term 2023/2024-1

With the objective of providing our students with a variety of enriching activities during their stay in Rio de Janeiro, administrative cost will be charged to all international students.

Exchange students:
The administrative cost will be charged prior to arrival.

One Semester attendance: Price: R$ 965,00 Reais
One Year Attendance: R$ 1.449,00 Reais

Independent students:
The administrative cost will be charged prior to arrival.

One Year Attendance: R$ 2,629,00 Reais

Period extension fee

Exchange students:

2023-2/2024-1
A R$ 484,00  extension fee will be charged if students decide to study at PUC-Rio the following semester. Exchange students are entitled to attend courses at PUC-Rio up to two regular terms plus the Pre-Term Portuguese as a Second Language Intensive

Independent students:

2023-2/2024-1
A R$ R$ 896,50 extension fee will be charged if students decide to study at PUC-Rio the following semester.

Extension fee will not be refunded in case students give up of the extension of their international program.

Important:

1. Please, send us a copy of the wire transfer done to the e-mails: Financial manager: manager@puc-rio.br with copy to incoming1@puc-rio.br
2. Refunds will be issued only up to one month prior to the course start date. In case of reimbursement: operational costs related to acceptance and cancelation processes and to bank transaction fees will be deducted from the total amount refunded.
3. Extension Fee will not be refunded in case students give up of the extension of their international program.

Attention:
Be aware that if PUC-Rio Central Coordination for International Cooperation (CCCI) does not receive the total amount in Reais informed on the website for the pre-term intensive course or registration fees due to any difference in the exchange rate or to some fees that the bank might charge for the transfer, the missing amount will necessarily have to be paid upon arrival at PUC-Rio.

Accommodation Program

2023-2/2024-1
The monthly rent with breakfast included will be  R$2.200,00 per month (Exchange rate changes every day).  If a meal option is available (lunch or dinner), the cost per month will be R$ 2.530,00 per month,

Tuition

Exchange students:
Exchange students do not pay tuition, except those who come after balance is closed.

In the case that there is an unequal number of exchange students between PUC-Rio and the international partner university, the administrative cost charged will be as an independent student.

Tuition Fee - Method of Payment:
The fees must be paid in Reais (R$) currency rate.

All international, non-degree-seeking students are part of the Center of Theology and Human Sciences (CTCH) due to their mandatory attendance in Portuguese classes. For example: if the student registered online for 16 credits, he will pay for 16 credits. According to PUC's table of values, in 2023 CTCH regular students must pay the total tuition of R$ 34.389,00 per term or R$ 5.731,50 per month over 6 months for 16 credits. In the case of an international student who arrives ON TIME for classes in late February/early March or August, he/she will pay for 32 credits in the first and second monthly installments and for 16 credits in the third and fourth installments.

In case the student wants to cancel any class, the reimbursement will only appear in the next month's installment.

If the student adds more classes during the Drop & Add period the tuition amount will change too.

Ex: Before the Drop & Add the students had chosen 20 credits and during the Drop & Add added one class of (2 credits). His/her tuition will change from 20 credits to 22 credits; consequently, the difference of these 2 credits will appear in the others installments.

After the Drop & Add day, if the student cancel (drop) any class, the total of the tuition and the installments will not change.

Method of Payment:
The fees must be paid in Reais (R$), according to the dollar rate of the day.
