Databases
Each Department of the Louvre Museum possesses a computerised database that
includes information on each work of art and which allows the curators to manage
their collections. These databases, with an exclusively scientific character,
are internal working tools of the departments, and are only accessible to
researchers upon prior request.
- Department of Prints and Drawings
Extensive database of 130,000 works of the Prints and Drawings
Department. Digitalisation of reproductions of the works, in colour, is in
process. Unix server, consultaion on Windows.

- Joconde
This database includes 120,000 descriptions of drawings, prints
and paintings from the VIIth century to present, of the collections of over 60
museums in France. A database with text only, on Mistral, accessible through
Minitel.

- Euphrate - Department of Oriental Antiquities
This
database of 7000 items include the collections of the museum covering the
geographical area from the valley of the Indus to North African countries and
from the Caucasus to Yemen; the chronological period covered is the end of the
Paleolitic until the arrival of the Islam. On line interrogation on Texto and
Mistral since 1995.

Collections
of Greek, Roman and Etruscan Antiquities from French museums.
The main
database can be consulted on Mistral, on Unix server, but the Louvre Museum

The database include 17,500 descriptions
concerning the works of the Louvre Museum and some other museums;
the
12,000 works of the department are reproduced in digitalised black and white
images.
