Department of Sculptures

The Marly Courtyard

The Department of Sculptures of the Louvre museum incorporates sculptures from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and modern times.
Works by sculptors from the second half of the XIXth century are exhibited in the musée d'Orsay, on the opposite bank of the Seine.

The collections in the Louvre museum include sculptures in marble, stone, bronze and wood. However the small bronzes, together with the silver, gold and ivory statuettes, are kept in the Department of Objets d'Art of the museum.
