TUITION/FEES: The academic tuition will be charged according to the number of credits taken in each term. In Brazil, the yearly tuition is divided into 12 monthly payments. The semester (term) tuition is divided into 6 monthly installments for regular students. Thus, in our first term of the year (late February/early March to late June/early July), students make 6 payments: in January, February, March, April, May and June; The same happens in the second term, with payments in July, August, September, October, November and December.

For the international students it is divided differently, based on the date of arrival.

Because international exchange and special students arrive at the university only in the second month of the semester, the semester tuition will be divided into 4 installments (March, April, May, June), THE FIRST TWO INSTALLMENTS EQUAL the sum of 2 monthly tuition payments each. In case of a late registration, the total tuition amount will be divided into 3 monthly payments (April, May, June).

Please refer to http://www.puc-rio.br/ensinopesq/ccci/fees_tuition.html to get more information about the tuitions and fees.

All international non degree-seeking students are part of the Center of Theology and Human Sciences (CTCH) center due to their attending of the mandatory Portuguese classes. For example: If the student registered online for 16 credits, he will pay for 16 credits. According to PUC's table of values, in 2009 CTCH regular students must pay the total tuition of  R$11.961,00 per term or R$1.993,50 per month over 6 months for 16 credits. In case of an international student who arrives ON TIME for classes in late February/early March or August, he/she will pay for 32 credits on the first and second monthly installments and for 16 credits in the third and fourth ones.In case the student wants to cancel any class, the compensation will only appear in the next month's installment. The two first months the amount to be paid will be of  R$3.987,00 and the last two on the amount of  R$1.993,50 each. This is an example for students that choose to study 16 credits during the PUC-Rio semester.

Method of Payment:
The fees must be paid in Reais (R$), according to the dollar rate of the day.

REMEMBER THAT, ACCORDING TO THE NEW DELIBERATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS, YOU ARE ALLOWED TO ATTEND A MAXIMUM OF 5 COURSES, CORRESPONDING TO A MAXIMUM OF 24 CREDITS, AND A MINIMUM OF 2 COURSES OR 08 CREDITS PER SEMESTER AT PUC-RIO. (Remember that the exchange rate fluctuates in Brazil).

A R$ 250,00 orientation/activities fee will be charged if students decide to study at PUC-Rio for one more semester.

Special Students are entitled to attend courses at PUC-Rio for up to two regular terms plus the Intensive Pre-Term Portuguese Course.

Students registered for a year or those who request extension of the student exchange period, must pay the renewal of the orientation/activities fee charged during the deadline for the Exchange Period Extension.
