All students MUST have a valid student visa in order to have their registration at PUC-Rio confirmed and to register at the Federal Police. A student visa MUST be obtained prior to the arrival in Brazil and cannot be obtained inside Brazil; a tourist visa cannot be changed into a student visa inside Brazil.

Students who will attend the Pre-term Portuguese as a Second Language Course only do not need to register at the Federal Police whether their stay do no not exceed the maximum period of 30 days in Brazil.
